Dr. Plaustajner spoke on the future of international commercial arbitration in the Adriatic Region, emphasizing the need for a realistic and fair impression of the arbitration environment in the region (the legislative framework, the aptitude of the court systems in particular countries in dealing with arbitration related matters etc.) and a business-orientated approach founded on a strong regional arbitration community and similarities in terms of culture, language, legislation and business environments.

Mr. Djinovic presented the main features of the Ljubljana Arbitration Rules (2014) inter alia the commencement of the proceedings, the appointment and confirmation of arbitrators, the effective planning and organization of arbitral proceedings, the costs of arbitration and the expedited arbitral proceedings. He emphasized the international character, time & cost effectiveness and procedural flexibility, all of them being the underlying principles of the Ljubljana Arbitration Rules. Last but not least, Mr. Djinovic presented the particular experience of the LAC Secretariat in handling disputes involving parties from the Adriatic Region.
